Immediately following this year’s Annual Scientific Meeting in Sydney there will be a Train the Trainer Workshop in the newly refurbished BD Training Facility in Macquarie Research Park from Thursday 11th November 2010 until Friday 12th November 2010. It is envisaged that the workshop will be completed by lunch-time on the Friday afternoon.

The workshop will comprise a general overview of training operators in resource poor countries, dissemination of the BD training materials and hands-on operation of the BD FACSCount™ instrument. Participation will be free of charge.

It is hoped that out of town attendees to the Meeting who are keen to participate in such a workshop will use this opportunity to extend their stay in Sydney for this purpose.

Please address all inquiries and expressions of interest to Deborah Shapira (deborah.shapira@bigpond.com) such that formal invitations with full registration details can be sent out.

Congratulations to J Paul Robinson on the success of his Mount Everest expedition!
Thursday, 18th June, 2009

As many of you will know, Paul Robinson (past president of ISAC) recently successfully climbed Mount Everest in the name ISAC and "Cytometry for Life" (www.cytometryforlife.org), raising awareness of the issue of low cost technologies for diagnosing AIDS in Africa.

On behalf of all AFCG members, congratulations to Paul and his team for literally putting cytometry on the highest point on the map!
